Dr. Jeff
12-13-2007, 06:09 PM
We are very excited to announce that the organizers of the Liquid
Jungle Poker Run have decided it will be returning in 2008.

With the hard work from the Organizers, sponsors and the participants
they have been able to consistently donate thousands of dollars
towards worthwhile charities.

I have personally attended this Run in the past and have found it to
be one of my favorite events based on what they have done and continue
to accomplish!

We look forward to seeing everyone!!!!

This event will be limited to the 1st (150 Boats) so mark your
calendars to be sure you do not miss it.

Saturday August 9th, 2008

Online Registration and Details Available Soon

Large Cash Payout on top of Donation for Top 3 hands, Helicopter and
Video Coverage. Each Registration will include a Poker Run DVD

In the meantime take a moment to see what has and is being done by
this great organization!!!

Liquid Jungle Raised aprox $10,000 for Zoey Slaby and I welcome you to
read her story

http://www.liquidjunglepokerrun.com/benefit/benefit2006.html

For the latest information on Zoey, you can visit her Caring Bridge website:

http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/zoeyslaby

In addition the organization will be donating proceeds from this Poker
Run to benefit Cody Schoenmann in 2008

I invite everyone to take a minute to share Cody's story here along
with some great pictures.

No problem. My pleasure.

The site still has some hiccups, but it's getting there. Sorry to Firefox users, there is a bug with the main menu on the left when browsing with Firefox. One of these days I'll get that figured out.

The biggest addition to the site lately has been the gallery. Check it out!

I am hoping Pepin has a steady East wind :) but that makes the Pickle Factory a mess for docking.

About 80 miles round trip.

I haven't been on the water so I have no idea what the level is like. Someone that actually has time to boat will have to chime in.

wildchild212
07-31-2008, 11:44 AM
Water level should be fine. 42-50 footers run out of the harbor. However if you get there and think that it is to shallow, we do have another spot to put in just down the road.

No DNR just local county water patrol boats. So far they just leave us alone. They are present, but just keeping an eye on things.

We've been out every weekend, water is great up here! We have a friend with a 32 foot Sunsation that puts in at the harbor with no problem.

We have been in this pool and the one below it for about 20 years combined and never been ticketed for loud exhaust - except for once up around Red Wing, and this run doesn't go up that far.

I'll be staying at my camper.

You can call Great River Harbor, the hosting marina and ask what they have for accomadations left. They rent out campers and houseboats for overnighters. Or you can overnight on your boat.

It's hard for me to say right now. We are stoping for lunch first this year so our timeline will be a little different. I'm going to say 2-3PM ish. I can call you when we at lunch and give you a better idea. How much lead time will you need to get down there from Red Wing?

We heard a rumor last weekend that there was a change in the stop to Pioneer, can you elaborate? I have a card that says breakfast at GRH from 8-10:30, now we heard we're going to be at Pioneer around 10:30 - is Gary having breakfast, or lunch? Is the drivers meeting moved up?

Maybe if you just post the change in the schedule, it would be great.

Great, thanks Brian. Just a couple more questions...
Is the drivers meeting still at 10:45?
Is Pickle Factory a drive by, or do we actually pull into the docks?

We heard card stop #5 was a 'bonus' card, but it doesn't sound like it here?
Our kids on the pontoon are very interested in this one!

I'm not sure on the time, Marks at the camper already, maybe D knows.

The Pickle will all depend on the conditions.

Card 5 is a regular card.

And just like before all the stops besided the drivers meeting are optional so you can alway opt out of a card for any reason and pick it up at the end.

The only good thing about Ed running out of gas is the fact that now we can finally stop ragging on MNFastboat for running out it in 2005. Ed, you better hope some else runs out next year or you may have to endure it for 3 years like Hugh did.

Thank you to everyone that helped, and to those that came out to play with us this past weekend. We did end up with 45 boats total. Down from previous years, all things considered (economy, gas ,blah, blah blah.) I am very happy with that number. I think the poker run was off the hook, I might be a little bias.
Thank you again everyone.

I am just happy that I was invited to the Poker Run. I am greatfull that we all were able to help Cody and his fight to stay in remission. :) As for running out of gas.... I had a hard time keeping my eyes on the gauges due to my HOT passenger. [smilie=hump] As for Klem..... I owe you one [smilie=flip8] Thanks for the shower buddy!! It was nice to meet all of you. See ya on the river and I'll make sure I have plenty of gas!

I agree, in fact others commented that it was the best they ever attended because everyone is a big family, willing to help one another and on and on.

I did not hear one complaint and this year it was life jackets while running and no drinking for the drivers. Still, not one complaint.

Best part about it was that we got to meet Cody and help an individual that is not as fortunate as us. Everyone was glad to hear he is in remission.

Always willing to help anyone out to the best I can! We all do and that is what makes a great bunch.

Unfortunatly I will make one complaint, I wished more life jackets were worn!
Rules are rules, and this one was not accepted by all! However I will say at least there was a higher percentage of jacket wearers then there was none wearing. [smilie=011.gif]

However all in all, no one was hurt, boats all came home, and Cody was an insperation to all of us [smilie=appl] [smilie=appl]

I've got a couple good ones of you too. I'll email you the full res versions one of these days. I want to see if I can do some touchups though. A lot of my shots turned out fairly out of focus. I think I was a sniff too far away and I couldn't hold the camera steady.

I've also got some video footage. I haven't reviewed that yet. Hope I got some good stuff.

yup, I be busted by busta!

your right, i do less then 5 over 95% of the time I go anywhere! [smilie=106.gif] have not had a speeding ticket in over 18 years and I plan on keeping it that way! thanks for the reminder  [smilie=042.gif]

however I guess I look at things differently with these type of runs.
Insurance companies make special request/guidelines/rules etc.
and if we as participants do not follow thier requests they will NOT insure these events anymore. We all know from past experiences (last years event to be exact) that without insurance there is NO RUN!
NO RUN means children like Cody and others will not be helped out with what we can do for them! [smilie=106.gif]

So I guess if I feel the need to voice a personal-in general-response with the thought in mind to keep reminding others about the rules/request of the insurance Co.'s in order to keep these events happening I WILL![smilie=appl]

As for your rolling eyes smilies I am assuming you do not think that the rules need to be followed when special requests have been made by the event holders. And i am sorry for thinking that way, becuase it saddens me to keep seeing these events getting so hard to hold because of that!

No Hugh I rather enjoy most rules. hell, I even get to enforce rules I dont agree with but oh well, thats the game.

PM sent.

Chopper photos have been added to the LJPR Gallery, as well as another person's photos.

There are almost 1000 chopper photos. I may need to recruit someone to go through and do some pruning...
