Is there a boat ramp at Ron's? Can persons staying there use it? If I rent a house can I rent a slip? Is the slip rental still $500 if I rent a house?

Jason, I know Ron is running around like a madman trying to get Capt. Ron's ready for their opening on Valentines Day, so I don't know if he'll see this.

We talked a little bit this weekend about plans for slip rental etc. for the shoot out this year and changes that he was planning on making, but I don't want to speak for him.

I PM'd you his email address, I'm sure he'll have all the answers for you.

I do not believe there is a ramp at Capt Rons unless they have recently put one in.

Where is the closest ramp?

There is one on the east side of the hurricane deck bridge
that a dock company owns, my friends that live down at
that end of the lake have used it in the past.

There's also one at the 38 mm, I believe it's called silver
sands marina ?.....that's the one we used last year.

There is one there, but it kind of scares me...it's steep, narrow and you have to turn truck/trailer on a steep hill....

We didn't use Cap'n Ron's ramp...don't you remember? We used King's Pointe for the loading. It's a really shallow, flat ramp, but we've used it so many times, we're comfortable with it.

I'll never never EVER use the Hurricane Deck bridge ramp!! We about ended up in the lake - us, truck, trailer, boat and all!! That scared the holy bejesus outta me!!! Thank God John got us outta that one!!

Hell yes I can handle it! I've backed up more miles than most have driven forward. I've hauled stuff heavier & faster & less than legal. So much so, it would make the Bandit & Snowman take a pass. [smilie=crazy]

We used Silver Sands last year for the race boat. It's only a couple of miles up the lake and their ramp is super nice. plus you can leave your truck and trailer there if you need to...

There's a ramp two houses down from us that you can use.

the ramp at rons wouldn't be bad, it's hidden between a few of the houses there.

the hurricane deck bridge is for BASS BOATS!!

it's super steep, it's steep enough that as soon as the trucks tires get off the pavement the weight of the boat takes over and our going to the bottem one way or another.
the other thing it the break over point of the ramp is too sharp, we laid the front two trailer stringers on the pavement for a good 5-7 feet backing in!

so my vote is silver sands, rons, or kings point.

All the cabins have been booked for some time. I was just talking to Ron about this a couple of weeks ago. FYI, If you can find them, I believe a few of the condo owners across the main Channel from Rons rent their places out for that weekend!

There is a very nice ramp at Forever Resorts Houseboats on the Big Niangua at the 2 1/2 mm. We have pulled the 40' Skater in and out several times with the tilt trailer and had no problems. Dave Scott and his crew used the travel lift there to put in the 50' Mystic for the Shoot-out last year.

Pier 31 has new Docks,Slip rentals,Wave Breaks and Home and Room rentals. It is located at the far end of the shut-down area. They also carry Sunoco Race fuel and will match any fuel prices in a 10 mile radius. Give them a call for any more info 573-873-5283.

What's the name of the little place that used to be just around the point (heading up the lake) from Silver Sands? I used to use their ramp when we had the cabin years ago.
