Poker Run on the Missouri River Labor Day Weekend

Dog Days of Summer Poker Run sponsored by the Missouri River Boat Club in Sioux City, Iowa.

Registration is from 9 - 11 on September 4, 2004

1st stop is Missouri River Boat Club mm 732.5
2nd stop is mm 725.5
3rd stop is mm 708.3
4th stop is mm 721.5
5th stop back to 732.5

The Missouri River boat club is located on the Big Sioux River - they said stay in the middle and you will be fine!

$10 per hand with a 70% pay out - 30% will benefit the Special Olympics

1st pays 50% of what is left
2nd 30%
3rd 20 %

Pretty good chance I'll be trailering up on Saturday morning. They said to take I-29 to Hamilton Exit (149), go left to the public ramp. Head up river and take the Y to the right to get into the Big Sioux River.

Eddie, I will also be up for the run. Cindy is going to drop me and the Tender off at Dodge Park and meet me up there with the pickup and trailer, if weather is ok. I don't know what time for sure I'm leaving but should have room for anybody who wants to ride along. The only thing is that I will be staying up there for 2-3 days. I had that problem with a 6.2L small block last year and it turned out to be something stuck in the thermostat and it was staying open. They said it happens often with the small blocks when running in dirty water (river).

It really does not matter to me where we meet. Is everybody staying at the Marina Inn which is in Nebraska or the other place thats on the Iowa side, very close to the boat dock. The Marina INN on the Nebr side has the public dock wich is off the current about 100 yds away. If your drunk this is the best place to put in your boat. [smilie=061.gif]

Bob Called Denis Butler, he said that the grill is open, It has a variety of appetizers
and Phillies, Hamburgers,Chicken Sand. Etc. He said it opened Tuesday and the food was great. They also have a band scheduled from 8pm-12.

I haven't looked at all the post so i am going to do a little recap about ramps and such.
There is 2 public ramps I know of the 1st is off i-29 at the hamilton st. exit. Turn left can't miss it. If you keep going another block or so that is where the MLR-TYM Marina and registration for the poker run are. The hamilton inn is also right at that exit. The marina has brand new covered slips with hook-ups for 25 a night. I can get the number for the marina if you need it. The 2nd is on the NE side, it is just south of the marina inn. As far as hotels are concerned the marina inn is nicer than the hamiton inn (use to be a holiday inn) but more expensive and a little farther away. The hamilton is much closer (really within walking distance from the public ramp and MLR-TYM. I think Eddie got a room for 45, you'll pay 70-80 + at the marina inn. Some people with cruiser I know enjoyed staying at MLR-TYM in their boats.
