Have a Sea Ray, with a sound issue.

I have a Rockford woofer under the deck, with just over 600 watts RMS going to it. Another 500 watts to the remaining 4 speakers.

Anyhow, I can NOT get the sound "out". The speaker is located underneath, but when I open the hatch it sounds GREAT. I cut a 12" X 4" hole on the port side and installed a vent, but it didnt seem to help.

I bought 2 more vents, but I dont want to install them if it wont matter.

There is NO POSSIBILITY to install the speaker outside. Not happening with the layout.

Any ideas? Will 2 more similar vents help? If I need to I can take some pictures and post what I have as far as the layout of the boat goes.....

Yup, definitely could use pictures of your setup to help you out. I'm guessing your losing your sound into your hull or whatever the cavity is that you have the woofer installed in. Your best bet is probably to build an enclosure for the speaker. That should help direct the bass out your vent hole.... I think. Again, hard to say without seeing the exact setup.

okay, will take some this weekend. and yes the sound is trapped in the hull. I have an enclosure, and have mounted the speaker in a 'downfire' and 'upfire' position, and it does not matter. Very frustrating!

As far as 'pointing' the sound to an exit point, cant really happen with the layout.

Sure is frustrating jamming 2 flip flops in the compartment to crack it open. [smilie=265.gif]
