I have an Alpine 7863 in the Sea Ray, and late last year, the volume control knob stopped working. It has a removable face, so I cleaned the contacts. I also "reinitialized" it by hitting a little reset button, but to no avail. Anybody have any easy answers? I would not think that it would be worth sending anywhere for repairs, so I'll replace it if I cannot figure it out.
Thanks.

you might try cleaning the conatcts on the face and the chassis with a pencil eraser and see if that helps, alos try pulling puwer from the back to hard reset it.
If nothing else you could check on ebay for a replacement face or try pacparts.com and see if they have one

is the last faceplate listed on ebay

Not to hijack this thread...but, what's the best tool to use to cut a new speaker hole in fiberglass? Jigsaw with a good sharp blade?

body saw with a good sharp blade or a sharp hole saw, body saw works the best for me as it does not walk like a hole saw can.

A good hole saw is what you want. Something you can put in your drill and cut a nice clean hole, the exact size you want. I'm sure others can point you to good examples they have used. But here's one I found from just doing a quick google....
