SUMMER TROOP (HERO) APPRECIATION DAY SAT. June 16, 2012

WHAT:

8th FREE TROOP (HERO) APPRECIATION DAY - For troops, spouses & children. This will include a 3 hour cruise, swimming, fishing contest, prizes, and HERO AWARDS. Pier 31 will furnish some free rooms and has arranged for special rates of $60.00 @ Tan Tara Resort (thanks to a generous donor) for those who do not get rooms.

WHEN:

SATURDAY, JUNE 16, 2012. BOATS LEAVE FROM PIER 31 for a 3 hour cruise@ 1:30 & return abut 4:30 for a fishing contest, awards, presents &
prizes that will start about 5:30. The fishing contest will be for children up to
14. This will be followed by a free dinner furnished by Pier 31 at 6:30pm and
the awarding of HERO AWARDS & PRIZES.

WHO:

The first 160 troops including their spouse & children as long as they are
serving or have served in the last year. If the HERO is not able to come , their
spouse & children are welcome to participate as long as they have proper ID.


WHY:

"FREEDOM IS NOT FREE" & WE WANT TO HONOR, RECOGNIZE, SHOW
OUR APPRECIATION & HELP MAKE THINGS BRIGHTER FOR OUR
HEROES PLEDGING THEIR LIVES TO PROTECT OUR FREEDOM,
COUNTRY AND FAMILIES SO WE CAN LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE.
"THEY AND ALL THE OTHERS THAT HAVE SERVED ARE TRULY TODAY'S
REAL HEROES!

Wow what a great deal! Wish I could make it but we are busy training for our upcoming deployment in November.

I am sure such an event is really appreciated by our soldiers and their families. As a side note, while I haven't been deployed or away from my family for over a straight year I think often times people(not anyone on here just in general) do not understand or appreciate the ones who suffer more than those on deployment are their families i.e wives/husbands, children, parents. That is my personal opinion and nothing more.

Still looking for some donations on the rooms $60.00 covers a nights stay, checks can be made out to Tan Tara.

I also need a few more boats to haul people, Bud will sell you gas for $3.80 if you use your boat to help us out on Saturday.

Great turn out; we ended up at Ha Ha Tonka with the families for some swimming. 161 military family members, they had a blast. Thanks to the MWBP peeps that showed up with boats and called in with donations you people are awesome! They ended up getting the rooms covered at Tan Tarra for everyone. Thank you, thank you, thank you for helping out it was a great cause.
