    Started remodel yesterday!

The guys showed up yesterday to get set up for removing all of the trees from the back yard. After they top them, cut off the limbs, and then bring down the trunks, they cut it all up and then CARRY it all out to the road! I think that there are 8 trees in the back and one in the front that are getting taken down. It will be nice to have an open view to the main channel.

We also signed a contract yesterday for Ozark Barge to build a new dock for us. Since we are on what can be pretty rough water, we felt that they were the ones to go with. They build a pretty impressive dock. We looked at used, but by the time that we altered one, it just did not make sense. We will keep a refrigerator and all the stuff in the shed, but we will probably build a "bar" so that we are looking out over the lake instead of the back wall of a shed. That is the reason for the large enclosed area. We are putting in a 6' wide electric roll up door, along with a 3 foot service door. The 12X32 slip is built so that it can easily be opened up to as much as a 12X48 (a guy never knows). A second set of wetsteps will be right next to the covered portion. I have asked that all of the uprights be very well padded, but we will also add permanent fenders or mooring balls, along with permanent tie ropes.

Hopefully we will be down to paint the exterior soon. It will be yellow with bright white trim. On the heels of that hopefully the new deck, deck roofs, and the metal roof on the house will take place.

Slacker! Jeff, it sounds like you sort of retired and are just sitting on your butt all day. Why not get off you rear and accomplish something?

Welcome to the annual fee party, I just joined this year too.
Never liked those loud obnoxious boats, until I bought one of my own.

Sounds like things are falling into place ...... Those trees you are taking down, do you sell them to a mill?

The tree guys are getting them out and gone. I am not sure where they are ending up. I know that up here, lumber mills do not like trees that have come from homesteads, as they can have all kinds of thing in them (like nails, cables, horseshoes, etc.) that will eat expensive blades. I would bet that they turn into somebody's firewood.

Ahhh...... Never thought of that ...... I was watching Henry Hill get thinned of trees and those were going to a mill ...... Those were not surrounding a home ....... I wonder what a good tree sells for

When your dock goes over a set sq. footage you pay a fee every year.

Ozark Barge built our dock for the rough water 5 years ago. We have never had a problem they are the best docks on the lake and Steve is a great guy.

I have been very impressed with both Steve and Nina at Ozark Barge. In hindsight, is there anything that you wish that you had done differently on your dock? With any luck, I might even have a new dock by Shootout week.

If your dock is 3000 sf or larger you have a fee of $.06 times square foot of dock every year plus $150.00.
