Lake House 13 Up in Flames

    Lake House 13 burned down.

If I were an insurance carrier, there is a 0% chance of me underwriting a restaurant at the lake.

We really enjoyed Lake House 13. Bummer......

Fire insurance at the lake for bars has got to be really expensive.

This sucks. LH13 was one of the only places on the lake trying to do things a little differently with bands and atmosphere, with a solid menu. Were building a bigger kitchen, etc. this month.

Sure hope they rebuild but Pointe Oasis owns it so who knows...

Again??? Is Merlyn running this place???

It burned down when it was the Big Easy and then was rebuilt. I think Point Oasis actually owns the property/building.

Seriously, what is the deal with all the fires? I realize the construction at the lake hasn't been the best over the years, but these all can't be accidental. The vast majority of them have undetermined cause. Something seems odd.

it sure does seem like a lot of restaurants burn down. I would think the lake roads and lack of water hydrants result in slowed response is to why most are totaled. I just wander why they start. This one was being remodeled so it either had to be electrical or something caused it during construction. It couldn't be a grease fire as it was not open from what I read. Maybe a neighbor is not happy with a restaurant in this area.

There was some type of explosion heard in the neighborhood prior to the fire trucks coming.

Total lack of building codes when most buildings at the lake were built. Lack of water supply for fighting fires.

I have no idea what caused this fire but in some cases I think it's the best way to get a complete remodel done or a whole new building and all it cost you is your $1000 deductible.

If they were doing major improvements which required electrical and plumbing work building permits should be on file with Sunrise Beach. If some of the improvements are in the kitchen Camden County Health Department should inspect the work before they reopen. If this work was done without the proper permits and is the cause of the fire someone may have a problem.

I agree if the building was built decades ago, however, this particular building was rebuilt after a fire when codes were in place. The lack of water supply is only necessary if the fire starts. What is causing so many fires to start?
