In the market for a larger boat

We currently have a 226 Cobalt and are at the 26mm. Needless to say on weekends the lake can be a challenge with such a small vessel. My slip at our condo will hold up to a 27 or 28 ft boat. I would like to keep the cost under $45,000, $40,000 would be better. Based on everyone's experience what would be a good boat for the rough water at the lake and still be suitable for water sports? I would like to have an open bow and a plus would be that I could still use my 6000 lb lift but I can always replace that if necessary.

    Hello Craig,
We will be down with the family Saturday for a week. I have a 2002 Baja 252 Islander (open bow) that I will be selling at the end of the season. Takes to LOTO slop pretty good for a 25.5' boat. Would be happy to take you for a spin one day. Our kids still tube and ski behind this boat. 496 MAG with around 600 hours. I will list for slightly less than $30K. If nothing else - you could see how it rides if you are looking for newer. I could email pics if needed. Thanks, Cory

Thanks for the reply Cory. I like the lines of the Baja so that may be an option. I just wonder if I'm upgrading if I should go larger than a 25'. We were just down for 9 days so I'm not sure if we will be down this weekend but if not we will definitly be down the following. I'll pm you my cell number.

I would set aside 2500-3000 to upgrade a lift to a 8k or 10k lift. This will increase the size of the bait you can get. I like crown line, envision, cobaltin the 27-29ft range open bows. If you are looking more performance Baja 272 or 29

Crownline, Cobalt, Sea Ray and Formula would be my choice in the under 30' bowrider category. The longer and heavier the better the ride will be.

The wife wants a tri-toon. I'm not sure I'm ready to be on Golden Pond just yet. I will say they seem to take the lake well.

Take a ride, much like a mini van might not be all cool but they do so much so well for less $

If you decide on a tritoon I have a 2004 Playcraft PowerToon X-Treme 26’. Pretty much mint, Honda 225/110 hours.

It all depends on what you want. Pontoons are OK - then a 30+ Powerboat with twins comes blasting by and my head falls

I may have a buddy that wants your boat, based on how you price it. If you could email me at acosborne@msn.com I will connect the two of you.

I am asking $27,000 or best offer. A new one now costs over $53k. Just detailed. Just had ProBoat service it. New starting battery, new oil and filter, new water pump impeller, spark plugs and gear lube changed.

What are your plans with this boat? Have more info and a few pics?
Are you part of the problem? Or part of the solution?
