Can anyone tell me how fast a 27' Mach 1 with a 7.4L and a 23 pitch prop run? I drove one this weekend and it only topped out at 39.5 MPH on GPS... I was considering buying the boat until I couldn't get it over 40 mph. Does anyone know if that speed is correct.

If thats a 454 mpi it sounds 25 mph to slow. How many rpm's ? Was the prop in good shape?

Something doesn't sound right. I would think that boat with a 23 pitch prop at 4800-4900 rpm should put the boat in at least the low to mid 60's

What where the rpms? A friend of mine has a 29 MAch 1 and I proped hers with a 21 pitch and turns around 4900 rpms and hits around 50. They are heavy boats and 330 horse is just not enought.

It was turning around 4400 rpms but I couldn't see the prop because the boat was already in the water when we looked at it. The guy told me that it had the Magnum engine in it to but I couldn't see where it said Mag, just 7.4L

Is it a carb motor? A carb 454 mag will have a spacer below the carb the 7.4 did not. The rpms are to low however even with a mag these are not fast boats. It is a 50 to 55 boat. It sounds over proped.
