    Remember when

In this case it's from winter '76/'77. Lake level was about 646. One can plainly see why barrels were not a long-lived option for dock flotation. Our dock had 84 of them and was built by my dad during the winter of '62 when the lake was froze over. It was built on top the ice staring with the barrel straps being laid down, barrels added, then the frame, and so on. In the first photo, Lone Oak Resort is in the background and in the other, Paulson Point - now the Shawnee Bend public ramp.

What happens at the lake, stays at the lake. Unless I have a camera handy.

Cool pictures! I remember the winter it was so low riding my motorcycle down the boat launch and across the cove.

Great pictures, we still have some barrel docks up here on our end of the lake. I remember as a kid always having to keep a eye out for ones that broke loose floating right at the surface of the water.
