    Flooding in St. Louis

I know the lake is in bad shape also, but St.Louis and the surrounding areas have been hit just as bad with way bigger population. I know some people personally who have been affected by this that have never been flooded before. Record floods surpassing the 1982 and 1993 floods. I live minutes from the meramec river but on high ground. The valley park exit is the exit I use going to and from lake. Here are a few pics I took today.

They just shut down one lane on hwy.55 southbound at meramec bottom... What a complete mess!! With 44 already being closed, if 55 shuts down. There will be very limited options for people living in either Jefferson county or Franklin county and everybody south of the meramec river to be able to get to St. Louis county or st. Charles county, because all the other side hwys and roads are under water also....

Just passed maramec bottoms road on 55 going south. The river was up significantly from this morning when I went north to work. They were sandbagging along 55 on the southbound side. The hydrology report is saying about another 12" of rise over the next 24 hours before the maramec crests.

If only they would have just planned better, they could have prevented all of it.

We used to live right up the road from there at Big Bend and New Ballwin Road, that area floods every 10-20 years during these 500-100 year storm events, it used to drive me crazy to have to drive around it.....................looks about the same........be safe and stay dry.

Some very ugly pictures. No whining from me about a dislodged dock.
Hope all stay safe and can recover.

It is still open, one maybe two lanes. Don't know for how long though. 6:00 news said modot was losing the battle. It is boiling up through the storm sewers in the middle. IMO it won't be open in the morning. I think it's supposed to crest in valley park at midnight and Arnold around noon tomorrow.
