Believe it or not, Walmart. It was the grass fed variety in the cryovac packaging. It was the only one that looked like Wagyu otherwise I would have gotten more. It was really good.

    Wow,
I just seen this post. It may have been in the Grass Fed section, but that is not a grass only fed steak. The animal may have been able to see some grass from where it was fed, but it ate a lot of corn products. So how was it?

All that marbling did make the texture pretty great.
But, the meat was not nearly as rich as I imagined it would be.

Feels dumb that I'd never thought about it before but now that you said it, I see that it doesn't make sense that an animal could get that fatty just eating grass.

I try to get our beef from a butcher that buys locally normally but sometimes convenience wins out. Steve's in De Soto, for anyone in the west KC area, is the best meat I have found.

    Dredd,

I checked out Steve's Meat Market website, a rare shop for this day and age. Looks like the local raised beef is all grass fed. We eat grass fed steaks from time to time from the Camdenton Farmer's Market from White Angus Beef. Grass fed is good, but we still prefer a good marbled corn fed. Big fan of Certified Angus Beef. A good relation with a meat cutter ranks pretty high for finding a great steak.

    Good grilling!

That looks like a nice one. I agree, certified Angus is my first choice.

I've had some really good ground beef from Tom's Slaughter House in Linn Creek. I got some ribeyes there and was not impressed though.
We'll have to check out that farmers market.

A few examples from Steve's attached.
