    Adding things dock

So have a new dock and want to add a few things. Like hooks to store kayaks and maybe a few bumpers. They will require drilling into the metal post. What type of drill and drill bits will i need?

No special drill is needed, but you'll want a cobalt or titanium bit, such as:

    Cobalt: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauke...2331/205879044

    Titanium: https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-T...1361/202279642

No need to buy the whole set of drill bits. Just find the size you need. They're sold individually.

I do most mounting with self tapping hex head screws. Put a nut driver in your impact cordless and they drill in like butter. Saves a ton of time. If you do need to drill, use a cobalt bit and drill at a low rpm with strong pressure as fast rpms will burn it up quickly. If you need to drill a large hole, start with a smaller bit and work your way up, as it is much better for the bits.

Good luck and post some pics! I love seeing new dock ideas!

Will self tapping ones work alright with a regular drill? I've got some lights to hang this weekend and was glad to see this thread.

Anyone have any ideas on an assorted pack of self taping screws on amazon. Mainly used around the dock.
