    Weekend after Labor Day

Typically visit the lake between the Memorial and Labor days like everyone else but it looks like we're coming down the weekend after Labor day as well. Are most of the waterfront bars/restaurants still open that weekend or is Labor Day the last hurrah? I know the locals have their "no more tourists" parties but can't remember when that happens.

After school starts, big surf goes to weekends only I believe....then, after labor day, most places start moving toward more of a weekend only schedule, and the problem is it's kinda random. Many, many places are weekends only by October, then close up shop in mid-late Oct.

Sep/Oct are by far the best boating months, imo....shhhhh..

It's not true NFT day anymore though. Back in the '90's it was a true NFT, as no weekenders even knew about it, let alone knew what NFT meant. Establishments closing for the winters literally sold off everything below costs to empty shelves and coolers for the winter. I can remember getting a case of beer at Ozark BBQ for like 3 bucks. You could get $2 breakfasts, dollar hamburgers, all kinds of good stuff. And it was never busy.

But as word got out to weekenders, the NFT was changed into a marketing gimmick to establishments to bring people in for business. Kind of like "Black Friday."

NFT is no longer about closing up shop for the winter...

Don't tell anyone, but September and October are the best boating months at the lake!

There are still a few places that have big discounted parties at the end of the season. Franky & Louie’s has a pretty big bash from what I have heard.

Yes, quite a few do, but not until mid October. F&L, Paradise, Jolly Rogers all do.
