    Teenagers at the lake

So i have a 16 and 19 year old. They both used to love to come to the lake. Now they want to stay home. Do the rest of you find this with your teenagers? Neither is in sports right now. They are allowed to bring friends down. Ride Jet Skis, Son even takes the boat out.

I am at a loss. Maybe i am an asshole or something.

    Thank you

I would not worry to much , there is probably not to many 18 - 19 year olds that want to spend every weekend with there parents..... What they really want is for you to go to the lake and they can .. 'watch' .. the empty house while your gone

Same scenario here... Most places at the lake either cater to the young kids or over 21 crowd. Almost all of the pools are 21 and over. The ones that aren’t have a ridiculously small under 21 area. Outside of that, my kids are just plain board hanging at the restaurants. We find ourselves just leaving them at the condo for the day, and come back to do dinner in the evenings.

Could be several things. They don't want to be away from home and miss whatever their friends are doing. They may think hanging with the parents is not cool anymore. There could be a boyfriend or girlfriend they don't want to be away from. They will get back into it but it may be a year or two...

My 19 year old stays home a lot. Sometimes he can't get off work. He also does not want to be away from his friends for more than a long weekend.
He's been coming down his entire life, so its kinda like pizza everyday. After a while, you're tired of pizza even if it is really good.

All of the above, but main thing is watching the house while you are the lake I would think. That’s the way me and my siblings where. Had some pretty good party’s back then.

We spent many years traveling with our son while he played baseball. Our teenage daughter always wanted to stay home. Mind you she was a very good kid. Rarely had a problem. Years later we learned from her and friends when they'd reminisce what really went on. My dad always told us to shut up and listen. Like I said we learned a lot. Nothing bad just ornery stuff.

Cell phones. I have spent the last week with two 16 year olds and this is an odd time to be growing up in.
